Vulcan recognises it has an impact on the environment, its workforce, and its customers. Vulcan is committed to applying best sustainable practices to protect the environment, its workforce and customers. Vulcan will communicate this policy to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Scope of Sustainability Policy
The Vulcan scope of our sustainable policies covers:
- Applying sustainable environmental practices in the way we operate.

Environmental sustainability
Vulcan is committed to reducing the impact it has on the environment. Measures to achieve this include the following:.
Waste sustainability
Vulcan will:
- Measure and minimise the waste it produces.
- Re-use internally any waste where practicable.
- Segregate waste into waste streams and send for recycling, or the most environmentally sustainable way of processing.
Energy sustainability
Vulcan will:
- Move towards Net-Zero goals by or before 2050.
- Participate as an active member of Ceramics UK Net-Zero pledge.
- Measure, report and reduce Specific Energy Consumption.
- Invest to improve the efficient use of energy.
- Move towards use of sustainable energy sources, such as its 250kWp solar system.
Materials and procurement sustainability
Vulcan will:
- Purchase sustainably produced products where possible. E.g. Locally produced, recyclable products, products produced with lower carbon-footprints, etc.
Transport and travel sustainability
Vulcan will:
- Minimise the impact of transport and travel, including transport of supplies to Vulcan, delivery of Vulcan product to customers, and the travel of employees and visitors.
- Encourage use of public transport or sharing of vehicles.
- Encourage cycling to work and offer the cycle-to-work-scheme to employees.
- Move towards sustainable transport vehicles, such as PHEV or EV where practicable, and provide EV charging points on site.
Workforce sustainability
Vulcan will:
- Protect the health and safety of our workforce and those we work with, including:
- Strive for the highest Occupational Health & Safety standards in our industry
- Operate to ISO45001 OH&S Management System standards
- Provide a work environment that promotes employee Wellbeing, including:
- Operating to the Investor-In-People Wellbeing standard
- Provide a work environment that encourages employees to achieve their full potential, including:
- Operating to the Investor-in-People standard (Gold)
- Providing training and personal development
