About Vulcan

Vulcan Refractories Ltd was established in 1969 in Cheadle, Stoke on Trent in the UK and manufactures a comprehensive range of high performance refractory shapes and infra-red heaters.

Our refractory product range includes silicon carbide, alumina, aluminosilicate, zircon, zirconia and high temperature insulating bubble alumina. Industries supported by Vulcan products include ferrous and non-ferrous metals, energy from waste, technical and industrial ceramics, nuclear, kilns, wear resistance and power generation, to name a few.
We manufacture ceramic infra-red, quartz infra-red and foil heaters in both standard and bespoke designs so that we can meet your exact needs whatever your application

All products are manufactured at a state-of-the-art facility in the UK, with 75% of the production being exported worldwide.
In 2012 we became part of the Zampell family, investment in 2013 transformed Vulcan into a bespoke refractory manufacturing company which is continuing to investment and develop new products for a sustainable future.

Health and Safety

Vulcan has received the gold award from RoSPA for 8 consecutive years. In 2021 Vulcan were awarded our 4th RoSPA Gold Medal in recognition of this achievement. In 2017 Vulcan won a prestigious RoSPA award for “Workforce Involvement in Health and Safety”.
We are an active member of the British Ceramic Confederation Pledge Scheme which involves the industry working alongside the Health and Safety Executive and the trade unions in a truly collaborative effort to continuously improve and maintain health and safety in the work place. In 2019 Vulcan were awarded the “Pledge award of Excellence” and in 2020 the “Pledge Highly Commended” award.

People

Vulcan was been awarded the prestigious Investors in People Gold Award in 2020. In 2018 we were proud to be one of the first refractory manufacturing companies in the UK to be awarded the new ISO 45001 an international standard for management systems of occupational health and safety (OH&S), published in March 2018. The goal of ISO 45001 is the reduction of occupational injuries and diseases.

Quality

Vulcan is accredited to the ISO9001:2015 international quality assurance standard. Vulcan has the expertise, the production capability and the products to offer high quality bespoke refractory and infrared heating solutions to meet customers’ exacting requirements.
