Vulcan Refractories Receives RoSPA President’s Award Following 12 Consecutive Golds

We’re proud to announce that Vulcan Refractories has received the RoSPA President’s Award, recognising 12 consecutive years of RoSPA Gold Awards for health and safety performance.

The 2026 award recognises Vulcan’s health and safety performance throughout 2025 and marks another important milestone in our long-standing commitment to keeping our people, customers, partners and visitors safe.

12 Years of Consistent Health and Safety Performance

Receiving a single health and safety award is an achievement. Maintaining the standards required to achieve Gold recognition for 12 consecutive years demonstrates something much bigger: consistency.

At Vulcan, health and safety is part of how we work every day. It is reflected in the procedures we follow, the way our teams communicate, how concerns are raised and, importantly, the willingness of people across the business to continually look for ways to improve.

The RoSPA President’s Award recognises that sustained approach.

An Award That Belongs to the Whole Vulcan Team

While the award recognises Vulcan Refractories as a business, the achievement belongs to everyone across the company.

Commenting on the award, Managing Director Gary Dukes said:

“This award belongs to everyone at Vulcan. It recognises all of you who follow safe systems of work, report concerns, support colleagues and look for ways to improve.”

From following safe working practices to looking out for colleagues and identifying opportunities for improvement, maintaining a strong safety culture requires participation from everyone.

It is this collective responsibility that has enabled Vulcan to maintain consistently high standards year after year.

Building a Strong Health and Safety Culture in Manufacturing

Recognition from RoSPA is something we are extremely proud of, but the real value of this achievement goes beyond the award itself.

As Gary explained:

“Its real value is what it represents: our continued commitment to making sure everyone working at, or visiting, Vulcan goes home safe and well.”

That principle remains at the heart of our approach to health and safety.

Our ISO 45001:2018 accredited occupational health and safety management system provides an important framework, but creating a genuinely safe workplace ultimately depends on the actions, awareness and accountability of our people.

Our Continued Commitment to Health and Safety Improvement

Twelve consecutive Gold Awards provide an opportunity to recognise how far we have come, but maintaining those standards requires continued focus.

Health and safety is never something we consider finished. Training, communication, reporting and continuous improvement all remain part of daily life at Vulcan.

As we celebrate this latest achievement, we would like to thank everyone across Vulcan Refractories who has contributed to it.

Congratulations to the entire team on achieving the RoSPA President’s Award and 12 consecutive years of Gold recognition.
