Pera has worked closely with Vulcan to develop a purpose built three zone oven incorporating Vulcan’s FSA series, which will heat the composite materials at 200°c. Vulcan has carried out special lab rests to determine the maximum efficiency wavelength for this application
The first and second zones are used for pre-heating and soaking and are controlled by thermocouples. The third oven acts as a trim zone and features an optical pyrometer with closed loop control which focuses on the material, measuring and adjusting the temperature as required.
Pera’s requirement was for a fully controllable and consistent heat source and rapid response times, reaching maximum operating output in just ten seconds
FSA series heaters used in the system are available to maximum of 2500mm long, 600mm wide with a standard case thickness of 82mm. Outputs to 80kW/m2 are achievable
