Refractories Applications-Technical Ceramics

Process Information : Sintering

Technical ceramics are fired in intermittent, pusher hearth and tunnel furnaces. Mainly based upon oxides, the materials need support during the firing process because of their low strength at median temperatures

Process temperatures 1400°c to 1750°c

Endothermic and Exothermic Atmospheres

Delta T to 150°c per hour

Product Requirements and Characteristics

Vulcan produces a range of plain tiles, saggars and profiled setters for use as a support during the firing process

High hot strength to minimise creep
Thermal shock resistance
Chemical purity to prevent contamination / reaction
Minimum bow tolerance to avoid the use of seting powders
