Process Information : Melting/Holding Furnaces andAssociated Launder Systems
Re-melting
and holding of aluminium takes place in tower and melting/holding type
furnaces. The main furnace areas are usually lined with medium duty monolithic
or brick materials. There are however several areas of severe wear, which
if not addressed limit the lining life
Process temperatures 760°c to 900°c
Atmosphere neutral to slightly oxidising
Chemical attack by aluminium
Erosion in areas of high metal flow
Impact in charging areas
